Will I Die a Violent Death?

Spatial installation
Plaster, metal, polyurethane foam, green and pink ghillie suits, decorated 3D-printed weapon models and airsoft guns, redesigned cartridge boxes, used parachute canopy, video with sound
2026

The installation is inspired by elements of video games, which soften and divert attention from violent imagery. For me, the association of the color pink with military equipment is tied to the misogyny present in gaming environments. Male players often look down on the customization of one’s character and weapons in pink, perceiving it as something unmanly. Out of defiance, I have felt compelled to surround myself increasingly with the color pink. Yet, immersed in all this colorful game noise, it becomes easy to forget that in escaping into the fictional realm of gaming in order to escape the reality world filled with violence and war, I have nonetheless entered something strikingly similar.
